Delta Governor Oborevwori Lifts Suspension of Works Commissioner Reuben Izeze

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has formally lifted the suspension of the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, directing him to resume official duties after serving out a 10-week disciplinary suspension.

Governor Oborevwori announced the executive decision on Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony of the State Auditor-General alongside board members for the governing councils of the University of Delta, Southern Delta University, and Dennis Osadebay University at Government House, Asaba.

Addressing government officials and appointees, Oborevwori revealed that the decision to reinstate the commissioner followed a direct appeal for forgiveness from Izeze, who expressed readiness to publicly account for the circumstances surrounding his suspension.

“Let me talk for a minute about one commissioner who was suspended,” Oborevwori said. “He sent me a message this morning that I should forgive him… I always tell people that my kind of system is different. If someone like me has changed my style, this is not the Sheriff of 20 years ago. So when you are in government, you must behave well because nobody is above the law.”

The governor emphasized that Izeze’s willingness to take responsibility and address the public directly influenced the executive decision to terminate the suspension. Wuith the lifting of the sanction, Izeze is expected to immediately reassume leadership of the Ministry of Works to oversee ongoing road and urban infrastructure projects across the state.
