Parents Threaten Total Shutdown of DSC Schools in Delta Over Unresolved Fee Hike

The Concerned Parents Association of Delta Steel Company DSC Schools in Steel Town, Orhuwhorun, Udu LGA of Delta State, has issued a shutdown mandate to the management of Premium Steel & Mines Limited, threatening to close all campuses effective Monday, September 14, 2026, over an unresolved dispute regarding excessive school fee hikes.

The resolution was reached on Friday, September 11, 2026, during an emergency stakeholder engagement hosted by the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Area to address the crisis affecting DSC School 1, DSC School 3, and the Technical High School.

Although corporate management representatives of Premium Steel & Mines Limited failed to attend the meeting in person, local government leadership established direct telephone contact during the session with both the company’s legal adviser, Barrister Agbaje, and its Chief Executive Officer. Corporate management verbally assured government representatives and parents that the fee structure was undergoing a formal review aimed at delivering a meaningful reduction before the close of business Friday.

Addressing parents following the session, Acting Chairman of the Concerned Parents Association, Hon. Darlington Erhijakpor, alongside Acting Secretary Linda Okezimena Adewoye, confirmed that parents unanimously agreed to allow management until the end of the day to honor its commitment. However, leadership affirmed that if an official reduction is not communicated, all three academic institutions will be shut down indefinitely on Monday morning.

The association stated that its mandate is supported by local government authorities and backed by security personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force to maintain public order and enforce compliance across the Steel Town complex.

Parents and guardians across Udu Local Government Area have been urged to remain orderly while awaiting final corporate communication from the management of Premium Steel & Mines Limited regarding the revised tuition figures.
