The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has officially launched its 2026 bursary scheme, opening applications for tertiary students originating from host communities across the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during an official rollout event held at the commission’s headquarters in Warri, where executive leadership unveiled a newly deployed online portal designed to streamline the entire application process.
Qualified undergraduates from designated oil-producing ethnic nationalities are directed to submit their applications exclusively through the official portal at [https://apply.desopadecbursary.com.ng](https://apply.desopadecbursary.com.ng). Speaking at the event, DESOPADEC Executive Director of Social Services, Chief Favour Izuokumor, stated that the scheme was structured following extensive consultations between the commission and student representatives to ensure the initiative directly addresses student needs across the mandate areas.
Chief Izuokumor urged prospective applicants to thoroughly review all submission guidelines and eligibility criteria before submitting their details, warning that incomplete documentation or failure to satisfy requirements will result in immediate disqualification. The commission reiterated that the bursary scheme forms a core part of its educational intervention strategy, aimed at providing crucial financial relief and supporting human capital development across Delta State’s oil-producing communities.
