The former Senior Prefect of Ugborikoko Secondary School, Peterson Ebialade Okpomu, who serves as the Alumni President of the Class of 2000, is under fire for diverting N914,000 of charity funds for personal interests.

Okpomu was recommended for discipline after an investigation conducted by the Disciplinary Committee showed that the funds raised for infrastructural support for their alma mater could not be accounted for, as Okpomu had retained the association’s cheque book, which he used for various transactions.

Findings from the committee revealed that the Treasurer, Ms. Oke Dick Kandy, was misled by Okpomu into signing blank cheques under the pretext that they were documents for alumni business, only for him to use the funds raised for a project that would have been executed on December 2, 2025, to invest in a business venture that collapsed.

The committee found Mr. Okpomu guilty of fraudulent conversion after he admitted to all allegations in a virtual meeting and promised to refund the money but has since failed to meet the payment deadlines.

Due to his failure to meet the deadlines, Okpomu has been removed from office, received a lifetime ban from holding any position in the association, and is required to make full restitution while legal actions are being taken.

When contacted, the former Senior Prefect declined to comment, even as members condemned his betrayal of trust.
