There’s a fresh twist in Delta State’s political landscape as former Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, appears to have mended fences with his long-time ally turned rival, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.
The former Governor of Delta State,Sen. Okowa, over the weekend, paid a surprise visit to Senator Nwaoboshi at his Asaba residence. The two Anioma political heavyweights held a closed-door meeting that lasted several hours.
Recall that both leaders had been locked in a bitter political feud for over five years — a rift that led to Nwaoboshi’s incarceration and his absence from the Senate in the 2023 general elections. Their fallout also deepened divisions within the Anioma political bloc.
However, sources say the Saturday meeting may have signaled the end of their long-standing conflict, with both men reportedly agreeing to reunite politically ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political analysts believe this renewed alliance might be linked to ongoing tensions between Senator Okowa and the current Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, who himself has had past clashes with Nwaoboshi.
