Oborevwori Flags Off Distribution Of Insecticide Treated Nets

With Delta State malaria prevalence at 10 percent, the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called for intensified efforts in combating the parasite thereby, flagging-off the Malaria Insecticide-Treated Nets, ITN, Replacement Mass Distribution Campaign.
The flag-off campaign which took place in Asaba the state capital, had a series of notable persons educating the public on the proper use of net and the need for all hands to be on deck as malaria remains the most common health issue in the country claiming the lives of children under five and pregnant women.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Monday Onyeme, in a statement read by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Christopher Osakwe, commended the efforts of Federal Government, State Ministry of Health and its partners, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and its valued development partners: Global Fund, Society for Family Health, as well as the Catholic Relief Services for their tireless commitment to defeating malaria in the state and country at large.
Meanwhile, the Dean of Commissioners in the state, Fidelis Tilije, who believes a Delta free malaria can be achieved noted with World Bank covering about 90 percent of the state and over 3million nets to be distributed means that malaria can be both preventable and completely eradicated.
