The Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov had on Monday travelled to Guinea to form allies with the West African country.

Lavrov was received by Guinea’s foreign minister Morissanda Kouyaté, to discuss areas of cooperation.

Guinea has been under military rule since 2021 after Col. Mamadi Doumbouya seized power from the then-sitting president to avoid throwing the nation into chaos after many unfulfilled promises.

Lavror’s visit to Guinea shows how the Russian government has been travelling to other West African nations like Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic to form allies with the junta government.

The Russian Foreign Minister also made another trip late Monday to Congo Brazzaville to meet with President Denis Sassou N’Guesso.
