INEC: Fire destroys card readers meant for october polls in Ondo state

Over 5000 smart card readers were destroyed during a fire incident at the independent national electoral commission’s office Akure, Ondo state. The incident occurred on Thursday night.

Mr Festus Okoye, the INEC commissioner in charge of information and voter education who was at the scene disclosed that the fire which began about 8pm devastated the information and technology section of the commission stating that there was no fatality. He further stated that the incident will not affect the governorship election.
