The Governor of Delta State,Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Thursday advocated for constitutional roles for traditional rulers in the country. Dr. Okowa cited this as a result of the contributions of the rulers to peace-building.

Governor Okowa made the call while receiving the members of the South-South Monarchs’ Forum led by King Edmund Dakoro at the Government House, Asaba.

“There is need for us to provide constitutional roles for our traditional rulers. This is because they are the bridge between the government and the people and also because of the roles that they play in engendering peace in our communities,” Governor Okowa said.

The Governor also appreciated the Monarchs for their work throughout their various domains, reiterating that his administration will continue to work collaboratively in order to ensure our peaceful coexistence as a region and as a nation.
