The Governor of Delta state on Tuesday inaugurated the Delta State Rural Youth Skill Acquisition (RYSA) programme in Asaba. Delta State RYSA was designed to empower eight hundred and ten (810) youths across the local government areas of the state especially in rural areas.

The governor described unemployment as a national emergency stating that RYSA will help to make more of our young people economically self-reliant.

Governor Okowa also urged the Federal Government and other stakeholders to provide skills and empowerment opportunities for youth.

The Governor also disclosed that his administration’s strategy for job creation has been entrepreneurship development programmes that are anchored on skills training, engaging youths in productive enterprises and nurturing entrepreneurs.

“It is my firm belief that productively engaging our youth and giving them hope for a better future should be a top priority in all our public policies so that we can help them to realise their dreams,” Governor Okowa said.

Furthermore, the governor on his official twitter handle @iaokowa stated: “Moving forward, we will continue to monitor the trainees as they go through this program to ensure that once this is over, we are able to send a new batch of young and innovative entrepreneurs into various communities across Delta State.
